Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
BoldEdit (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) turns long videos into short, captioned clips. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. It reflects how the app actually works today.
Core principle: your media stays on your device
Your videos, audio, and the transcripts generated from them are processed entirely on your iPhone. We never upload, store, or transmit your video or audio content to our servers or to any third party — except when you explicitly publish a video to a social platform you connected (see “Posting to TikTok” and “Posting to YouTube”). Speech-to-text (transcription) runs fully on-device — your audio is never sent anywhere for processing.
Data processed on your device only (never sent to us)
- Videos and audio you import or record.
- Transcription: on-device speech recognition. Audio never leaves your device to be transcribed.
- Edits, captions, styles, and project files: stored locally on your device.
Deleting the app removes all of this local content.
Settings sync (your own iCloud)
A few small preferences — your caption language and default style — may sync across your devices through your personal iCloud account (Apple’s iCloud key-value storage). This lives in your iCloud, not on our servers, and we cannot read it. Your videos, audio, transcripts, and projects are not uploaded, synced, or backed up by the app — they stay on your device.
Data we collect
To manage subscriptions, we process a limited set of data through our payment processor. BoldEdit does not use any third-party product analytics or usage tracking.
| Data | Purpose | Processor |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase history (subscription status) | Manage your subscription and unlock premium features | RevenueCat |
| A device / user identifier | Associate your subscription with your device | RevenueCat |
This data is linked to a device identifier but is not used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
We do not collect: your name, email, phone number, contacts, precise location, your photo library, or the content of your videos or audio.
Posting to TikTok (optional)
BoldEdit can publish videos to your own TikTok account — only if you connect it, and only when you explicitly post or schedule a post.
- What is shared, and when. When you tap “Post now” (or when a post you scheduled becomes due), the exported video file, your caption, and the post settings you chose (visibility, comment/Duet/Stitch permissions, commercial content disclosure) are uploaded directly from your device to TikTok’s servers using TikTok’s official Content Posting API. Nothing is sent until you explicitly confirm a post, and you can cancel a scheduled post any time before its upload starts.
- What we store. Your TikTok access tokens are stored only in your device’s Keychain. We do not have user accounts or a content server; your videos and tokens are never uploaded to us.
- Our sign-in relay. During TikTok sign-in, a minimal stateless relay service (hosted on Cloudflare) completes the OAuth code exchange, because TikTok requires an app secret that cannot live inside the app. This relay adds the secret, forwards TikTok’s response to your device, and stores nothing — no tokens, no personal data, and never your videos.
- What TikTok receives and controls. Once posted, your video and caption are handled by TikTok under TikTok’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (tiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy). Basic profile info (your TikTok display name) is fetched so the app can show which account is connected.
- Disconnecting. You can disconnect TikTok at any time in Profile → Connected Accounts; this deletes the tokens from your device. You can also revoke BoldEdit’s access from your TikTok app settings.
Posting to YouTube (optional)
BoldEdit can upload videos to your own YouTube channel — only if you connect it, and only when you explicitly post or schedule a post.
BoldEdit uses YouTube API Services. By connecting a YouTube channel you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- What is shared, and when. When you tap “Post now” (or when a scheduled post becomes due), the exported video file, its title and description, and the settings you chose (visibility, and your “made for kids” declaration) are uploaded directly from your device to YouTube’s servers using the official YouTube Data API. Nothing is sent until you explicitly confirm a post, and you can cancel a scheduled post any time before its upload starts.
- What we ask for. BoldEdit requests only two permissions: uploading videos (
youtube.upload) and reading your channel’s name (youtube.readonly) so the app can show which channel a post will go to. We do not request permission to manage, edit, or delete anything on your channel. - What we store. Your Google access and refresh tokens are stored only in your device’s Keychain. We do not have user accounts or a content server; your videos and tokens are never uploaded to us, and no YouTube data is stored on any server we control.
- No relay. Unlike TikTok sign-in, YouTube sign-in talks to Google directly from your device — there is no intermediate service of ours involved at any point.
- Disconnecting and revoking. You can disconnect YouTube at any time in Profile → Connected Accounts; this deletes the tokens from your device. You can also revoke BoldEdit’s access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Third-party services
- RevenueCat — subscription management — revenuecat.com/privacy
- Jamendo — if you add background music from the in-app music library, tracks are streamed/downloaded from Jamendo — jamendo.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Apple — the App Store processes purchases under Apple’s standard terms.
Accounts
BoldEdit does not require an account. There is no sign-up or login for the app itself, and the app does not use Sign in with Apple. You can optionally connect your TikTok account (via TikTok’s own sign-in) to post videos to it — see “Posting to TikTok” above.
Your choices and rights (GDPR / KVKK / CCPA)
Depending on your region, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data.
- Media: your videos/audio never leave your device — except a video you explicitly post to TikTok (see “Posting to TikTok” and “Posting to YouTube”); deleting the app removes local content.
- Purchase data held by our processor (RevenueCat): contact us (below) and we will action access or deletion requests.
- Analytics: BoldEdit collects no product analytics or usage-tracking data, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Children
BoldEdit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
